When gathering research looking through 'Elle Decoration', I was drawn to a wallpaper sample; a duck egg, teal colour. Immediately i wanted to dye my fabric to use as my finals, i mixed a procion dye mixture and died my cotton fabric a similar teal blue.

Ive always loved 'Cath Kidson's' floral wallpaper prints: I love the hand painterly way the florals are and was inspired to work back into the roses on my final by hand painting in pigments.

Printing with pigments

This print was done using a standard binder mixed with a black pigment dye, two pull through's were only needed as the pigment was thick and dark. With the dye being black, i had to be extra careful when using the screen; i had to keep wiping/washing my screen between prints so no unwanted marks would transfer onto the fabric.

Before exposure of the screens, a good koda-trace is key (image 1)...Every mark and texture created is then exposed onto a coated screen (image 2).
